march Inspiration for Mixed Media Academy Challenge blog

Bild
Hi everyone! It's a new month and a new chance to join our challenges on the mixed media academy challenge blog. theme this month is again 'anything goes' mixed media except cards/tags/atcs. All details  here . As my inspiration for the challenge i created this art journal page. For this i worked in an old book. Old books are great for art journaling, they are cheap and easy to get and i just love this vintage look of the old pages and skripts.  I used white gesso to prepare the pages, fussy cutted some stamped elements and sticked them with gel medium. For the colors i used Lindy's Stampgang Sprays. For extra texture and insterest i added some strings.  this dragon-fly is stamped too. I glued it only in the middle to make it look a little dimensional. Thanks for watching, i hope you like my page and i could inspire you to create something for our challenge.

Hi everyone! I'm back with another mixed media creation. This time i altered a simple money box with lots of Finnabair products. I started as always with preparing the surface with white gesso. Then i applied modeling paste mixed with sand for some texture. After it was completely dry, i glued the embellishments with extra heavy gel medium and added some artstones. I covered everything with gesso again. For the color i used 'emerald green' metallique paint and 'violet gold' opal magic paint from Finnabair and hightlighted everything with 'white gold' wax.

tiny art on a puzzle piece

Bild
hi everyone! I love tiny creations, i created tiny bottles, tiny art journal pages, tiny canvases.. now it was time to find another small surface to work with. I wanted to turn puzzle pieces into fridge magnets and I played with several elements around - small gears would be perfect as embellishments, so i had found the style for it. But what next? I spend some hours with experimenting and searching for a nice composition, and suddenly i found it... i thought about this one photo of my boyfriend, i wanted to use for a mixed media project. Yes, this would be great for a steampunk creation and i decided to create a tiny layout on a puzzle piece. I wrote the lyrics of one of our favorite songs on an old book page and glued it on the puzzle piece. I applied a coat of gel medium as a sealer. To give this project a little bit texture, i mixed finnabair artalchemy paint 'steampunk copper' with extra heavy gel medium and applied this paste through a stencil to my background. After ...

Hello Birdy, are you at home?

Bild
hello everyone! I'm back with another creation- alterered birdhouse made from chipboards by snipart. It comes as individual parts , that you have to glue together. For this i used tacky glue, but you can use every craftglue.  The first step was as always to prepare the surface with gesso- i used black gesso. To speed up the process i used my heat tool. To add more texture to my backround i glued some chipboard pieces and started building the composition with a half broken cassette and the tapes, the earphones and a face that i made using a silicone mould and casting material. I glued my embellishments with heavy gel medium and after drying, i covered everything again with black gesso. For the color i used finnabair artalchemy wax 'iron brush'.  Thanks for watching, i hope you like it

Bild
Today i want to show you one of my latest projects. I had to leave my comfort zone again and tried to make another mixed media layout. And this time it worked pretty well, so i really like the result, i hope you like it, too. for this layout i used papers from the hazydays collection by 7 dots Studio. For the background i used some lindy's magicals, 13arts sprays and some stamps. As you can see, i used dried roots again, some metal embellishments, chipboardpieces and i added some mika flakes and microbeads. And at the end i decided to apply finnabairs rust and patinapaste here and there.
